๐ŸŽค Test your Welsh now

The line to say

โ€œLovely to see you, now come in and have a nice cup of tea, is it?โ€

How to do a Welsh accent

  1. Let your pitch travel up and down across each phrase, as if half singing.
  2. Lengthen the consonant before a stressed vowel: 'lovely' becomes 'lov-ly' with a strong V.
  3. Keep vowels pure and clean: 'day' is 'deh', 'no' is a rounded 'noh'.
  4. Tap the R lightly and end with a tag like 'is it?' or 'now'.

The most common mistake

Making it sound Indian or Irish; keep the tune Welsh by stressing the consonants.
