How to do a New York accent

  1. Make 'aw' sounds tall and drawn out: 'cawfee', 'tawk', 'wawk'.
  2. Drop R after vowels: 'heah' for here, 'watah' for water.
  3. Turn 'th' at the start of words towards 'd': 'dese', 'dem', 'dat'.
  4. Talk fast and lean on one word per sentence with a sharp jump in pitch.

The most common mistake

Going slow; the energy and pace matter as much as the vowels.
