How to do a South African accent
- Tap the R lightly where it starts a word or syllable: 'rrready', 'brrrai'.
- Make 'i' in 'bit' and 'this' a short, central 'uh': 'thus' for this.
- Keep 'ay' sounds tight and short, with very little glide.
- Clip the ends of words and keep a steady, firm rhythm.
The most common mistake
Drifting into Australian; keep vowels tighter and add the tapped R.
