How to do a Cockney accent

  1. Swap middle and end T's for a catch in the throat: 'bu'er', 'wa'er', 'li'le'.
  2. Drop the H at the start of words: ''ouse', ''ave', ''ello'.
  3. Turn 'th' into 'f' or 'v': 'fink', 'free' for three, 'bruvver'.
  4. Shift 'ay' towards 'eye': 'mite' for mate, 'tuh-dye' for today.

The most common mistake

Adding glottal stops but keeping posh vowels; the 'eye' for 'ay' shift matters too.

Warm up with this

โ€œ'E's got a lot of bottle, that one, fought 'e'd never turn up.โ€
