German speakers of English often use a 'z' for 'th', firm consonants and clear, precise vowels. The delivery sounds orderly and evenly stressed.

The line to say

โ€œZe train is four minutes late. Zis is completely unacceptable.โ€

The judge scores how close you sound, whether you keep it up, your commitment, and whether you stick to the line. Up to 10 seconds, free, no sign-up.

How to do a German accent

  1. Turn 'th' into 'z' or 's': 'ze train', 'zis'.
  2. Make W sound like V: 'vee vill', 'vater' for water.
  3. Harden final consonants: 'goot' for good, 'hant' for hand.
  4. Keep vowels pure and short, and give each word a crisp, firm start.

The most common mistake

Shouting it; a convincing accent is calm and precise rather than aggressive.

Warm up with this

โ€œVe must leave at exactly seven, not one minute later, ja?โ€
